What are you Grateful for?

$10
nila alone- $3
cross alone- $5
Happy Thanksgiving Henna lovers!  This design is a combination of two simple designs I do.  One being the cross and the other being the Zibu (language of the angels) symbol, "Nila," which means gratitude.  This customer picked it especially for Thanksgiving!  I'm thankful for the support I get from my family and friends and I'm grateful for the life I'm living!  What are you grateful for?

Update!

Here's a sample of my most recent work.  I was so excited about Jack Skelington!!! I love The Nightmare Before Christmas and I love how cute the baby spider is.  The mermaid was difficult to do free-hand, but very fun and worth the effort.  I think she turned out okay, but I'd make changes if I ever do her again.  I was super excited to do one on a back!  I can't wait to here how well it stained, I hope she gets back to me.  The Mandala on the palm is mine!  It's been a while since I've liked the work I do to myself... I'm just never in a good position to henna my own hand, but this time it worked!  Don't forget to call, text, or e-mail me for a party!  I really enjoy what I do and can't wait to meet you ♥

Light up the Park

Last weekend was Madison Township's Light up the Park and it was awesome!  I had a great time and the fireworks were excellent-as usual!  I had a few big rushes and it tested my abilities at times, but all in all, it was better than I could imagine.

Google Search: Manly Henna

My dad is turning into an henna addict. :) Yesterday, he brought me a design he found in a search for manly henna.  This took me a while to do, but I love it!  There was more to it, but wet didn't start until late, so we rounded it out a bit.

Flower Power

The set up!

Last weekend I had a table for henna at my sister's Flower Power Pageant.  I didn't get a lot of business, but I met some really awesome people!  I also learned what to do for my next vendor table... I didn't realize how little I had in the way of presentation for my table.  I did made a page of hippie henna designs to accommodate for the event, but I wish I'd remembered things as simple as a table cloth or sign...

Waiting for customers!

All in all, I'd say the day was a success.  I had fun, met new people, and watched my sister get crowned!  This event was very laid back and I think that's what made it a good warm up.

Bad Wolf

In Elder Futhark.  My boyfriend found a Runic letter translator and we decided to translate Bad Wolf (from the TV show Doctor Who) and henna it!

It's here!

Hooray!  My henna is here!  I can't wait to break into one of my cones tonight.  My family has been waiting and waiting for me to order some so they could get their fix (haha).  Artistic Adornment has it all ☺  I'm also really excited for the Henna Balm; I've never had any before.  Stay tuned: more designs to come ♥

Please e-mail me if you have any questions about having a party!  As you can see, I'm ready ☺

Here's page 5 of 6 in the notebook I'm putting together!  I'm pretty excited about it, especially this page, but page 6 isn't coming along so great.  Eh, I tried something new; what's a girl to do?  It's because I'm tired, but it's really discouraging.  I've really loved working in this notebook though. It keeps all of my henna attempts in one place, and it will really help with pricing at parties.  Which one's your favorite?

Steampunked!

$20.00
So, I think steampunk is so fun!!  If you don't know what it is, urbandictionary.com has an excellent definition.  I found this idea somewhere in the dark depths of Pinterest and used my mother as a test subject.  This isn't my best work, but I was happy for my first attempt at steampunked henna!  Next time, I'll be sure to make the criss-cross section look more like a chain.  Enjoy!

Fourth of July!

Happy Fourth of July!  Yesterday I tried a new design that I had been dying to try.  These I did while waiting for the show begin, and I really liked the checkerboard one.  Finger henna is my favorite!!

Progress

March 7, 2014

May 31, 2014

On the left is one of the earlier designs I tried, and on the right is a design I did the other day.  I think I've come along way in 12 weeks.  It's so much fun to learn and practice new things.  I keep wanting to try new and harder designs and my family and friends are very eager to be my models!  (Thanks, guys ♥)  Not only have I practiced the art and studied the different ways to create the designs, I've learned many facts about where henna comes from.  My favorite part to learn is the symbolism behind the henna.  It's amazing how everything stands for something.  Things that keep you safe or make you stronger.  I love that kind of stuff.

"Don't only practice your art, but force your way into its secrets; art deserves that, for it and knowledge can raise man to the Divine."

JTL Designs

When I was little, I wanted to be a fashion designer.  I'd sign all of my designs JTL and hoped my dreams would some day come true.  Last night, my grandparents wanted me to initial my designs and I was finally able to use my practiced signature for the day that I'm famous!

Henna in the Park

I got this idea from my new henna book!  I have been waiting to try this one ever since I got the book.  It's slightly different from the original, but I like the way it turned out.  It was nice working out in the park!  This park is by the lake and the waves were so peaceful sounding.  The green grass also made a beautiful background for my pictures!!

The Henna Body Art Book

A friend of mine found this book, The Henna Body Art Book, by Aileen Marron.  She's had for years, but never really looked at so she gave it to me.  It has so many great ideas in it and many helpful tips.  It explains origins and shows some step by step processes to do certain designs!  I can't wait to try some of the designs inside, like the bellybutton design and the runs.  There's a lot in here that I can't wait to read and test!  Thanks, Meri!!

My Pinterest Account

I've saved a lot of ideas I'd like to try on my Pinterest account.  I'm really liking the Steampunk ideas I've seen.  They're awesome!!  I am addicted to Pinterest!  I stay on there for hours at a time... When there are a million other things I should be doing instead.  Please, send me pins!

Dear Mother

My mom is an addict, but who could blame her?  I certainly don't mind!  She makes an excellent test subject for any idea I like and is completely honest as to whether I made a dumb decision or not.  My favorites are the finger designs.  They make me feel like I'm wearing rings all of the time and I find the color better than any gold or silver!

Hand in Hand!

I wish I hadn't taken this picture on my phone!  I'll have to take a similar picture the next time we both have henna.  I love this picture of my sister and me, but such bad quality makes me sad!!!

Giant Sugar Skull

This is probably one of the hardest and longest projects I've done.  The roses were the most difficult because I don't know that I've ever tried to even draw a rose with a pencil.  Hopefully, they'll be better net time with practice.  Any tips?  I've always found roses impossible to draw!

Henna vs. Mehndi

I always call henna, "henna," but when I started to see the word mehndi appear in my searches, I was a little confused...  I had to understand the difference between them! This lady was super helpful!
