Hi! I recently decided to start putting Henna Designs on candles and rocks. What do you think? Here are some of the ones I already made and started selling. At this time I will be taking custom orders if you'd like one. It will be first come first serve because I need to order more henna, but I will let you know where you are in line. Let me know what size candle you want, as well as what kind of design. Text, E-mail, or Private Message me on Facebook and I will get back to you as soon as I can!
Welcome to Henna by Josie! Henna is an all natural paste that temporarily stains the skin. It lasts for about two weeks. It's made with henna, lemon juice, cajeput essential oil, and lemongrass and sweet orange essential oils. If you are allergic to fava beans, moth balls, citrus, or have a G6PD deficiency, do not use henna. If you or anyone you know is interested in having a party, please e-mail me at josephinelariche@gmail.com. Search for me on Facebook as well!

Light Up the Park 2015
I think it's safe to say Madison Township's Light up the Park was a success!! The entertainment was great and the fireworks at the end of the day was icing on the cake! They were wonderful ☺ I had a great time, and per usual, I met some really awesome people. I'd like to shout out to Ria of Ria's Glass Crafts and More. She has a lot of wonderful items, including the Christmas ornament I bought of Zero from The Nightmare Before Christmas. All in all, I had a great time. This was my second time here and I loved it just as much this time as the last. Light up the Park keep getting better each year and I can't wait to see how much it continues to grow. I can't wait to see what they have in store for 2016!! For Henna by Josie, things have grown from last year as well. I finally broke down and bought a canopy tent, so good news is, I won't have to buy another one! At least for a while... I am now selling Henna Candles and Rocks! I'll post more info about them soon ☺ I also made my first Henna Sign, It's at the very least a first draft.., Let me know what you think because I'm not sure. I need suggestions!! I'd like to thank my family for helping me prepare for this event and coming to see me ♥. You're the best groupies around!

The Henna Stain
What do I do next? How can I make the stain last longer? How long does it last? Why does it look orange? I get these questions a lot and I love to answer them, but I thought it might help if I had some written down for those who won't see me after the party. At http://hennabyheather.com/henna/how-to-take-care-of-henna/ you can find a lot of useful information about henna aftercare, but Henna by Heather's general advice is broken down into these steps:1) Be careful when it dries
2) Keep paste on as long as possible
3) Brush paste off, don't use water
4) The stain will darken over the next 24-48 hours.
Please check it out! Another excellent page is http://www.hennapage.com/henna/encyclopedia/skin/skinzones/bodstain1.html. This site has wonderful body maps that illustrate where henna stains well and why.
Here are two of my most recent designs. My dad found this image (below) on a google image search of "biohazard tattoos." He does love to challenge me, so I modified it a little bit. My mom let me us my imagination and I created the picture above using my own ideas. I love both of these, but I love the mandala. I really love any and all mandalas! I do wish I had added the letter N, S, E, and W to the top, bottom, left, and right because it reminds me of a compass. Let me know what you think!

Maternity Henna
Here's my beautiful cousin Becka! She's due in August and I love the design she chose for her prego belly. This was mine and Becka's first maternity design and there are some things I must remember for next time: 1) Have the mommy lay down or sit on a couch so you can work from all angles 2) Always, and I mean ALWAYS be aware of where the baby is kicking 3) And don't let anybody make the mommy laugh! This design took me about an hour and forty-five minutes. Good luck Becka!I can't wait to meet Mason. He's lucky to have a momma as lovely as you are. I hope you enjoy your henna and had a wonderful baby shower. I love you both!

Henna Placement
The meaning behind henna designs is why I fell in love with henna. From my very first tattoo I was hooked! I would spend my time trying to find the meaning of the tattoo I had picked! Not only do the different pictures have meanings, placement does as well! According to Mehndi Mama palm designs are usually images of opening and offering, back of the hand designs protect us, and feet are a place through which we receive "divine contact." My favorite henna placement is my palm. I've always loved the way I feel with palm henna. It can be hard to decide where you want your henna so I hope this helps and doesn't make the decision more difficult!!! Where's your favorite henna location?

"Back of hand~acts as a shield-closing, defending, clenching, symbolizing protection."

"Palm~designs invoke images of opening and offering (usually sun, flower, mandala)"

"The feet are recognized as a point of divine contact, considered a holy junction, where Human being and Earth meet."

The Lantern of Madison's First Annual Boutique to Remember
Two weeks ago was The Lantern of Madison's first Boutique to Remember and it was a lot of fun! There were over 30 vendors and plenty of nice people and some new hand models for hennabyjosie!! Each vendor donated $25 to the Alzheimer Association's Walk to End Alzheimer's to participate and it was well worth it. I also will be participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer's. There's no cure for this disease, but it is possible to live a full life with it. Here are some of the hands of great people. Each hand here is in some way affected by Alzheimer's. Each hand here is a Caregiver for a person affected by the disease. They work hard every day to make sure the residents of the Lantern are living their life as fully as possible. You can see their hard work here and be sure to like the Lantern while you're there.
